way it is

Postponing things sometimes puts us in a frenzy but sometimes things have to find their own time, it's just the way it is. This coming year, I hope I make quicker decisions, decisions that I feel confident with, act on them and make more in a relaxed yet sure manner. I pray I am always ready to face what may come, open heart and mind, as that is the key. I hope to that I have the courage to say the things that need to be said and carry on believing in the almighty and all goodness, despite some inevitable set backs. Most of all to approach it all with a relaxed, poised, energized self.

Work

Work means to be able to contribute. Sometimes it means having to make tough decisions and this toughens you up. Work is livelihood because it provides meaning to your life, you have a purpose, even when it does not seem so clear, whatever it is that you do, as long as you have the will, stomach for it and it generally gives you a sense of worth. Work allows you to earn a living and it is important to strive for a dignity in living both materially and spiritually. Despite all this, work does not define you, you define work, hence you are important, so long as you are patient, willing to go on the ride and believe in your own being and in your contribution. Work is not stagnant and neither are you, never let that be the case, never let that be you and never let that be. Be present, make decisions, look forward, plan for better always and take life in your stride.

Christmas just a week away to 2013

Coming to the end of the year, taking stock on this day of rest and celebration, there is indeed much too. 2012 has been a year of experiences and sometimes missed opportunities, but I suppose we need to make decisions in life and better a decision than a non-decision. So here I am, in something new, and something worth exploring, life. Meeting people, dealing with things and I hope my writing too, takes a new form as is depicted in this blog. It is not all about me but what my experiences speak to me, to be able to project and perhaps a story may come out of it; Life is indeed lived experiences, so moving forward with some breaks though despite it my wish is with greater momentum, true laughter and true spirit. My wishes, Merry Christmas, may there be strength, wisdom and with a good heart may we overcome the obstacles and become better and better for it. Happy 2013 in a weeks time.

My Dog and a Lesson in Life

My dog came to me, eager for a pet. She didn't just come but deevli had her paw up, nudging me, just as I was about to start writing this blog and I too conceded, willingly I may add, and gave her a few strokes, petting her on the head. She gently appreciated it and as I wanted to get my thoughts down, seeing this, she too walked away. I guess the lesson here for me is how many times, even as we are eager to begin something, we give ourselves 101 reasons, or rather excuses, that this may not be quite the right time and we should check our enthusiasm. However isn't the enthusiasm that gives us the precise energy to not only start something but to also go ahead and give it our best, rather than taking it on in some opportune time in the future, that too if at all comes, may be half hearted but worse still with the moment passed and so many other considerations, it may just remain a thought. So deevli, helped me not only get onto doing what I felt for the moment to be what I would like to do, just as in writing this blog now and not the one I had thought of earlier, so as to not let the moment pass but I guess I am going to make this an experiment of my life on living in the present, and well if things don't quite happen, then there is always a pet waiting for the future, so take it in my stride. But really with enthusiasm, there is no question of not working out, is there?

Self Management

"Each human being has to create his own identity instead of replicating" - a reflection from a participant in a values based leadership programme. A simple yet profound thought and a highly relevant one for the times that we live in. To carve that niche, build that pathway through truly understanding our very being, our innate capabilities and the circumstances that we find ourselves in and the present realities. To respond and be an anchor through our own unique challenges, rather than being swept away or submerged; even still to re-emerge and steadfastly push through the struggles, awakens in us a deeper understanding of ourselves and an appreciation of what it is we are meant to be doing. Yes one must fight but it is to fight the good fight to uncover the beauty within that radiates a glow and positive vibration, shining forth.

Expectations ain't Fate but Faith

"We expect things to happen, instead we must do good. Everything in life is incremental. We have to be patient in life" - a participant's reflection in a values based leadership workshop. How often have we allowed expectations to rule our very being to a point of frustrations, broken relationships and even severe illnesses? We nevertheless more often than not, in today's fast paced reality that we have conditioned our minds towards, we do not stop and calmly reflect on what we are doing to ourselves but just accept it as 'it's just the way it is'. However is it? Does the environment, circumstances and our own deep seated expectations of how things should be but is not or what we should be but we are not, lead us to this forgone sacrificial conclusion of 'no pain, no gain'? Rather if we worked on our very being, giving ourselves a space, expanding on it, then continually finding ways and means to respond to the circumstances that we find ourselves in, always being mindful to do even if it may just be an iota or a drop in the ocean, to do even that little bit of good anyway, being patient and enjoying the goodness that this kind act has brought forth as well as the growth in ourselves, life than becomes an adventure to tackle and live rather than be resigned to. Trust becomes a clear factor that brings about the integrity within, trust that the outcome in time will be favourable, however for today and in each moment to just keep at doing good in whatever way we possibly can and are able to, expanding our own inner abilities and responsiveness and in time our faith will conquer it all.
